How do I become an Individual member in AAR?
You can download the form from the website, fill up the same and courier it with a cheque for Rs 5000 drawn in the name of Association of Ammonia Refrigeration.
How do I become a Corporate member in AAR?
You can download the form from the website, fill up the same and courier it with a cheque for Rs 1,50,000 drawn in the name of Association of Ammonia Refrigeration.
Can I transfer my individual membership?
No. Individual membership cannot be transferred.
Can I change the nominees of my Corporate membership?
Corporate membership has 3 nominees. These can be changed by sending a mail to AAR Secretary from the primary nominee.

Is ammonia refrigerant safe to environment?
Ammonia is an environment friendly refrigerant with ODP of 0 and GWP of 1.
Can we use ammonia in small units? Can it be used in home air conditioning?
The size of the units are limited to the size of the compressors available. Lately companies are making smaller compressors so small refrigeration systems can be made.
Room air conditioning with ammonia condensing units have been used.
Are any material is hazardous when reacting with Ammonia?
Specifically copper cannot be used with ammonia. So all piping for ammonia plants need to be in steel.
Do you foresee Ammonia + CO2 system in future?
Yes. Ammonia + CO2 systems could be used in India in the future. However, each requirement needs to be individually assessed and to see if ammonia + CO 2 is suitable fit.
What changes require in system if we change refrigerant ammonia to freon?
It is best that the systems be analysed by a Professional to see if it is possible.
What is the minimum possible temperature with ammonia refrigeration system?
Compressors can be operated at -50 deg C with ammonia systems.
What are ammonia low charge systems?
An ammonia system that uses less ammonia charge than a conventional system can be called a low charge system. They are usually systems that use between 0.65 kg/kw to 1.3 kg/kw.
